I contacted Nancy Brilli to explain her my project on Alda Merini, and ask her if I could use two videos where she’s with the Poetess.
I was impressed by her willingness and spontaneity even afterwards, when through some of her collaborators, she let me know that she was a painter too, and would have liked to make a piece that identified itself with the play that she was performing in the most important italian theatres: “La bisbetica”, from Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew.
Alberto was one of Alda’s closest friends, together with Giuliano Grittini, Arnoldo Mosca Mondadori, the journalist Vincenzo Mollica to mention some of them. He was chosen as the “executor”, under dictation, of poems whenever the poetess had her inspirations. At any time she may call and ask to have ready a pen and some paper, to start dictating her poems.
Reading Giuliano Grittini’s book “Testimonianze” I was very impressed by a “satiric” drawing, which was sketched by Arnoldo Mosca Mondadori on the poetess’ room’s wall on her birthday, the same on which she also noted down names and telephone numbers.
