Sorry, nothing in cart.
I met Antonio thanks to a mutual friendship, the painter Fabio de Poli who led me to his studio, in Piazza dell’ Anfiteatro.
As soon as you get in, you are surrounded by a fairy world, which is the same you can found in his works.
He was impressed by my project and joined it, creating some works specifically for his t-shirts. These are the only ones who have two paintings, both in the front and the back. Because of the Maestro’s dedication, I consider these as the most exclusive t-shirts of the collection.
Antonio Possenti spent his early life in Livorno and then he moved to Lucca as a result of the bombing of the Second World War.
He spent a big part of adolescence reading any kind of book and it helped to discover the expressive qualities of design to the artist. He had great help to the intellectual and cultural formation by his family. His father was headmaster of a high school, his mother a teacher and his grandfather was the Rector of the University of Pisa and Member of Parliament Augusto Mancini.
After completing his classical studies, he graduated in Law and teached law in secondary schools in the province of Lucca. During the period of teaching he began working as political cartoonist, after Mino Maccari , on the pages of the magazine “Il Mondo” and has illustrated several books of the series “The Bridge” of Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Essential was the meeting with the Russian painter Marc Chagall on the French Riviera in 1957. Since that encounter, Possenti decided to dedicate body and soul to “professional painting” .
Since 1960, he has received numerous awards and has exhibited in major Italian and foreign galleries. It was also reported for the Bolaffi catalogiue in 1972 by Dino Buzzati and in 1982 by Pier Carlo Santini.
In his career, Possenti has traveled extensively, but each time he returned to Lucca where he lives and has his studio in the Anfiteatro square, in the heart of the city.
